Considered a form of Dark Death Weapon

Djinn are supernatural beings of exceptional power, capable of bending reality on command in order to grant wishes.  There are spoken rules for certain limitations of said wishes; one cannot wish for more wishes, they cannot wish more than once, that sort of thing.  Whereas your typical Djinn is more than happy to grant even the vaguest of requests, there are certain forms of Djinn which twist and pervert wishes in to the worst tortures they can come up with - these evil Djinn are known as Efreeti.

A Kishin variant, Efreeti destroy lives and wreak havoc on both a physical and emotional level to cause the breakdown of pure souls for eventual devourment.  The purer the soul, the harder the Efreeti will work toward causing it harm.  This is most commonly achieved by taking a fundamentally 'good' wish and turning it on its head, creating a Hellish nightmare out of what was intended to be something more akin to a wonderful dream come to reality.  This penchant for evil caused both good and bad Djinn to become feared over their brief few years of existence.

The Djinn as a whole were hunted by humanity for the actions of the Efreeti, and eventually were forced in to extinction.  On occasion one will hear tale of a Djinn (now, more commonly referred to as a 'Genie'), though this is usually just the result of overactive imaginations.  There are no Djinn left in the world, save one Efreeti that hid itself away from the world within an incense lamp, awaiting the day that certain... Conditions would be met for its release back in to the physical world.

Enter the Djinn

Efreeti are vile by nature and take joy in the suffering of others.  They are callous and vindictive, willing to go to any lengths to attain what they want with no consideration for the well being of others, including other Djinn.  It stands to reason that the last Efreeti would have a particular hatred of the human race, but here inlies the irony; as weakened as it is due to a severe lack of souls, it requires a human to act as a conduit for its power.  Beings with weak souls are a priority, as they are the easiest to forcibly bond with.  Once bonded, the Efreeti cannot physically manifest outside of the being's body in its full form - rather, it is required to take a smaller, more controlled form, either by forcing itself in to a vaguely-human-esque shape or in to the form of a weapon corresponding with the Efreeti's chosen elemental manifestation.

Bonding in this way is extremely unpleasant for the human host.  Due to the Efreeti's inherently evil nature, it will torture the soul it is bonded to relentlessly, causing a constant feeling of internal burning for the duration of the bond (which is permanent, mind).  Other side effects include slight physical pain (pinpricks, aches, etc.) and night terrors (often resulting in sleep deprivation).

Granted Abilities

  • Ease of Resonance:  Due to the nature of the soul bond, Resonance can be achieved easily and in a very short amount of time with any host.

  • Claymore Meister Abilities:  Technically classified as a Dark variant of a Claymore Death Weapon, the host is capable of performing both the Dragon and Wyrm Hunter techniques once Resonance is achieved.

  • Sword Arm Control:  Whereas its host is likely to not have much experience in battle, the Efreeti knows full well how to use itself to its greatest extent given the circumstances.  When combat is initiated, the Efreeti will take control of the host's sword arm and attack outside of the host's footwork.  When directly threatened, the Efreeti can fully lock-out the host's soul and take direct control of the host's actions.

  • Flaming Weapon:  The Efreeti's Weapon Form, despite appearing like several small segments of metal, is actually quite solid, held together by the fire that the Efreeti summons.  The flames burn in excess of one-thousand degrees, though thankfully the host remains unharmed by them.  This does mean, however, that the blade can melt through stone and most metals, or cause combustible to catch fire when in close proximity.

I've read them. Role playing has been a hobby of mine (in tandem with creative writing) for over 10 years, so this won't be my first rodeo. Thank you for the greeting, and you're welcome for joining.
